Where HoneyBook is great

HoneyBook is one of the best business tools out there for client work, and a lot of photographers love it.

  • A mature CRM. Lead forms, pipelines, automations, AI help, and text reminders that have been refined for years.
  • Payment plans. Payment schedules, autopay, tips, and late fees, with a contract, invoice, and payment in one step for the client.
  • A client portal on every plan. Even the Starter plan gives each client one place for their projects, files, and invoices.
  • Beyond photography. If you also run a planning, design, or consulting business, one tool covers all of it.

Where Edit is different

HoneyBook added galleries to a CRM. Edit is for photographers who want the gallery and proofing to be the star, with the business tools built around them.

  • Proofing that does more than favorites. Selection limits per person or look, your client’s picks and their team’s Guest picks side by side, the Matched filter for the shots everyone agrees on, and extra retouches paid for right in the gallery (Studio and Agency).
  • Selling photos. Sell digital downloads to your client, or open a Public project so a whole team or event can buy their own photos.
  • Your processor, your money. Clients pay through your own Stripe or Square, with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH, and Edit takes 0%.
  • Built for business clients. PO numbers, NET terms, automatic late fees, files that unlock when the invoice is paid, and on Studio and Agency, up to 15 people on one client account.

Tyler Coleman, founder of Edit
“Every business tool I tried was built for “creatives” and treated the gallery as an afterthought. For a photographer, the gallery is the product. So that’s where Edit starts.”

Switching from HoneyBook

Is Edit a good HoneyBook alternative for photographers?

If the gallery and proofing are central to your work, yes. Edit was built for photographers, with custom galleries, proofing, and selling at its core, plus contracts, invoices, booking, and portals. If you rely on HoneyBook’s CRM automations across several kinds of business, HoneyBook goes deeper there.

Does HoneyBook have photo galleries?

Yes, since July 2026, with favorites, download limits, and watermarks, and a print store in beta for US accounts. Edit adds proofing with selection limits, Guest picks and the Matched filter, and selling to many buyers.

Can I use my own Stripe or Square account?

With Edit, yes. Payments go straight to your own Stripe or Square account, and Edit takes 0%. HoneyBook processes payments itself, so you can’t bring your own processor.

Do I have to move my HoneyBook clients?

No. Leave past projects where they are and run your next shoot through Edit.

Try Edit on your next shoot.

Nothing to migrate. Run one real job through it, start to paid, and see how it feels.
